On March 28, 2023, it was announced that eight teachers from the Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University have been selected for the 2022 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list by Elsevier. The eight teachers, including Nie Jianguo, Fang Dongping, Han Linhai, Kong Xiangming, Lu Xinzheng, Shi Gang, Li Xiaodong and Li Nan, were recognized for their impact on the field of civil engineering or management science and engineering (engineering management).
